This is a fine article and a big revelation. The 1965 Christmas Special was a massive hit with 50% of all households tuning in!

Thanks for sharing the back story about “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. I just heard a similar story on Saturday night when I went to a performance of the music, “Charlie Brown Jingles and Jazz” at a local venue where I live in San Diego, CA! The leader of the group told this same story about it almost not making it onto TV.
