This workshop is named for the place it was first held. The English writing workshop took shape on the roof outside a small “atico” flat in Spain.
“Atico” is really better translated “rooftop apartment.” Unlike a musty old attic, the atico is a sun bather’s paradise with a breathtaking 360-degree view of the city. It’s the perfect place to gather inspiration.
(Some English and Spanish words are just similar enough to sow confusion. A ventilador is an electric fan, a compromiso is a commitment...)
Here’s what the dream dictionary says about the symbolism:
ATTIC — the mind, ideas, memories, past experience; things not foremost in mind
Being on the ROOF — success with current projects and victorious conclusions
